Buffalo, NY (WBEN) The state attorney general's office says 17 defendants have been accused in connection with mistreatment at a Buffalo nursing home.
The complaints are sealed until the defendants are arraigned Friday afternoon at Buffalo City Court.
CWA Local 1168 says six of the accused are members of their union. Its statement says they were arrested for document falsification, charged with saying patients were receiving care when they were not. The union says those six were fired.
"CWA was saddened to hear of the allegations against these six members as patient neglect at any level cannot be tolerated," says the statement.
The union says it will meet with those six to see if the allegations are true and what action will be taken.
