CORNING, N.Y. (AP/WBEN) - An explosion and fire have destroyed a home in New York's Finger Lakes region, but there are no reports yet of any injuries.
Steuben County Emergency Services Acting Director James Marshall says it isn't clear if the fire or explosion happened first at the house near Corning's downtown. It was reported just after 11 a.m. Reports from the scene say debris was strewn all over the street. (Photo courtesy The Corning Leader)
The Corning Leader reports the explosion heavily damaged a neighboring home and blew out windows for blocks around. The newspaper says two men were pulled from the wreckage, burned and bleeding but able to walk. They were believed to be the only people in the house.
Last week in Wilson, a propane explosion destroyed the Johnson house and claimed the life of 14 year old Sarah Johnson.
