Business First's Most Influential: Higgins, Jacobs, Zemsky, Paladino....
(WBEN) Cong. Brian Higgins leads Business First's annual "Power 250" list of Western New York's most influential people, displacing renegade Republican developer Carl Paladino in the top slot. .
Each year, the paper assembles a ranking of the region's most powerful people who have a residence in greater Buffalo and hold sway over it in some way , discarding the likes of Buffalo News owner Warren Buffet or Sabres owner Terry Pegula.
The paper takes nominations from the public and then conducts internal research to generate a ranking. Higgins is followed this year by Delaware North Company's Jeremy Jacobs in second and Developer Howard Zemsky, chairman of both the NFTA and Governor Cuomo's Regional Economic Development Council - in third. Paladino placed fourth, ahead of University at Buffalo President Satish Tripathi.
Buffalo News President Warren Colville, M&T Banks' Robert Wilmers, Seneca Nation of Indians Pres, Barry Snyder Jr., Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown & Rich Products' William Gisel round out the top ten.
