North Collins, NY (WBEN) North Collins officials have placed a ban on non-essential water use because of a break in the main transmission line.

The line has been repaired, but Village Mayor Vincent George says water levels are below critical level right now, so residents are not allowed to use water to wash cars, fill pools or water lawns until further notice.

Village water customers are being told to boil drinking water or use bottled water until further notice.
