North Tonawanda, NY (WBEN) Frank Budwey is selling his three Budwey's markets to an Olean co-op. Budwey announced the deal today.
Budwey says he's worked with Olean Wholesale for the last 11 years. "They're a great company," says Budwey. "The stores will remain open, and the employees will stay employed with their benefits."
Budwey says his decision to sell comes as he wants to spend more time with his family. "I didn't have a succession plan for someone in the family to take over the business, and it was difficult because we've been here for 86 years in North Tonawanda," explains Budwey, who will stay in the area as a consultant at the North Tonawanda store.
