The average cost for a gallon of gas in Western New York has gone up two cents since the beginning of the week. According to the AAA, a gallon of unleaded is up to $3.87. Of small consolation is the fact that Buffalo and Albany share the lowest state price among major metro markets.

Moog Incorporated has purchased Tritech International Limited of Scotland for a reported price of $33 million. Tritech makes high performance acoustic sensors, sonars, video cameras and mechanical tooling equipment.

Sovran Self Storage of Buffalo has sold twelve facilities in Houston and Dallas to World Class Capital Group LLC. Business First reports the selling price was $35.5 million.

Independent franchise owners of Canadian home improvement retailer Rona have sent letters to the head of Lowe's Companies. Those owners are not happy with a proposed hostile takeover. Lowe's had made an initial offer of $14.50 per share to acquire Rona.
