Buffalo Business Report - Tuesday, April 29th 2014

Under a proposed $200 million project, Pilgrim Village may be in for a dramatic facelift.  According to Business First, the 12-acre property across from the Global Vascular Institute might be redeveloped into a residential community with a healthy dose of retail and neighborhood services.  The first phase calls for a residential-anchored building, perhaps as tall as eight stories, with 154 apartments.  Current Pilgrim Village residents will get first shot at the affordable housing apartments.

The Empire Grill has closed.  Channel 4 reports the Hertel Avenue restaurant will re-open under new management with a new theme.

A former Friendly's Restaurant on Union Road in Cheektowaga may have a new lease on life.  The plan is to re-open with a family styled restaurant later this year.

AT&T has announced plans to launch a high-speed 4G LTE-based in-flight connectivity service for airlines and passengers in commercial, business and general aviation. The service may be available by late 2015.

Picone Construction recently completed interior renovations to the Amherst Health Center at 1185 Sweet Home Road.
