Buffalo Ranks High In National Survey of Crime Against Gays

A new study suggests Buffalo recently had the fourth-highest rate of anti-gay crime among U.S. cities.

The figures stand in contrast to the record participation in the city's Pride Festival this year, and the approaching third anniversary of same-sex marriages in New York State.

The Seattle Times looked at FBI crime data from 2012, and ranked the nation's larger cities by number of crimes against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

Buffalo had 2.7  incidents per 100,000 population, ranking the city behind only Washington, Memphis, and Seattle.
