Amherst, NY (WBEN) Today at UB, high school juniors will have the chance to talk with dozens of colleges as part of a college fair today.
"It's the biggest and best opportunity to share and collaborate information with college reps and get the ball rolling for their senior year," says Scott Harriger, a guidance counselor with Sweet Home High School. "What career paths are they looking at and does that college afford that opportunity to explore those areas."
Harriger says in an era of pre-registration, students can fill out a form online and when they talk to a college, with a slip of paper, the rep has pertinent information like major, name, e-mail and the like. "It allows for a more meaningful conversation more quickly," notes Harriger.
Harriger says it's important to talk to as many college reps as possible at the college fair, because even if you don't choose that school, "you can have a more well-rounded experience and ask better questions down the road."
