Dave Debo is the kind of wonk that actually enjoys reading thick and bulky environmental impact statements. He loves airports, enjoys old 78 RPM records, tries to garden, and harbors a soft spot for most anything canine- especially dachshunds.

Our morning news reporter and web editor has been with WBEN --this time around-- since 2004, but was also on staff as a weekend anchor and occasional reporter in the mid 1990s. Even before that, he interned here  in 1985 as a city hall bureau assistant.

An award-winning former president of the Greater Buffalo International Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, he's been doing news on-air, online and in print  for over 25 years in Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Ithaca N.Y. and  Washington D.C.

 Over the years his reporting work  has included hurricanes in Louisiana and habitability studies at Love Canal. When the Iraq war broke out he was working at Fox News Channel's Washington DC bureau, but -- to be completely fair and balanced -- he's also been heard on NPR, CBS, UPI and  The Associated Press radio networks.

In Debo's varied career, he's been a daily newspaper reporter, a staff-writer for Buffalo's Business First,  an assignment-editor in two of the town's three TV newsrooms, and was a popular talk show host on Buffalo's now defunct all-news public radio station in the 1990s. 

Before WBEN, he was the producer of First Business, a nationally syndicated early morning  newscast seen on over 150 TV stations, and also worked briefly for one of those happy morning news programs on local TV. 

In college, he studied (sometimes) at Indiana University, Buffalo State College, and overseas in apartheid South Africa. 

When not on-air or updating WBEN.com, he can usually be found in East Aurora, drinking coffee, working on community theatre projects, or  spending time with his wife and two teenage boys.
