Now there's some help.
The USDA has declared federal agricultural disasters for the freeze and frost for Erie, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, and Niagara Counties, with benefits also available for the contiguous Allegany, Genesee and Wyoming Counties.
Unseasonably warm temperatures before the frost in March led to a disaster declaration for Allegany and Wyoming Counties, with contiguous benefits for Erie, Cattaraugus, and Genesee Counties.
More than 3 million acres of farmland statewide sustained a loss of 30 percent or more because of the frost.
