While AccuWeather may not be completely cooperating this weekend, at least the trees are.
The latest statewide foliage forecast has our regions set for a weekend of bright oranges, reds and yellows
In the Greater Niagara region, look for up to 90 percent color change and peak or near-peak foliage conditions this weekend, according to the Empire State Development Corp. and their network of statewide "leaf peepers" A sampling of their reports:
Erie County: Expect to find areas of peak and just-past-peak foliage with colorful dark orange and deep scarlet leaves predominating over the fading yellows.
Niagara County: colors of bright gold, yellow, orange and red. Color change is progressing rapidly.
Wyoming County: spotters say Letchworth State Park is just beyond peak , with a brilliant fall palette of red, orange, gold and yellow leaves.
Genesee County: 65 percent foliage change, near peak. Gray and brown are creeping into the landscape, and the brilliant colors of earlier in the season now seem muted. However, oak trees have yet to fully change and the landscape continues to offer a colorful visual texture.
Monroe County: Mostly peak conditions, a few areas just past-peak appearance. Color change is about 65-70 percent, average-to-bright brilliance. Red, orange and russet leaves are now showing on maples, sugar maples and oak trees, with russet-colored leaves on White Ash trees, and yellow on Poplars, Locusts, Hickories and Ginkgo.
Wayne County: (Clyde, Wolcott, Macedon) Peak foliage this weekend, with up to 95 percent color change and very brilliant shades of red, yellow and orange.
Tompkins County (Ithaca): expect up to 70 percent color change by the weekend, with peak colors of bright red, gold, yellow and orange.
Onondaga County (Syrcause): expects to be at peak this weekend. Up to 55 percent color change is forecast, with many shades of red, purple and yellow leaves
Chemung County (Elmira): , just past peak , great landscape views with brightly colored leaves mixed in with burnt orange and rust-colored foliage.
Cayuga County (Auburn): also just past peak, many bright gold, red, yellow and some brown leaves decorating the trees.
Schuyler County: conditions are transitioning toward past peak, with an abundance of bright orange, red and yellow leaves still on the trees.
Cortland County: be past peak, with average-to-bright gold, red and orange leaves.
Look for near peak to peak foliage in Steuben (Corning) and Yates counties, with a bright array of orange, gold and red leaves; near peak colors in Ontario County; and foliage at midpoint of change in Seneca County.
