Finally, Warmth ! An End to Cabin Fever?

Cabin Fever just might get some of the right medicine today, a full week before spring officially hits.

AccuWeather says the weather forecast today will bring welcome relief in a week that saw record snow fall totals and the second official blizzard ever recorded in Buffalo in a single snow season.

The warm weather doesn't last long-- and it will be colder for this weekend's two area St. Patrick's Day parades, but Friday will mark a brief  respite from the bitter cold that has frustrated many this year.

It is likely to mean even school kids wearing shorts- if their parents will let them and is likely to bring a lot of people outdoors all weekend long.

Not to mention long the potential for long lines at the car wash, where folks like Sammy Cosmano says the weather is topic number one among most everyone he sees there.

"The car wash is like a modern day barber shop. We all gather and talk about whatever is going on," says Cosmano, owner operator of Sammy's Car Wash in East Aurora.

And he's not alone. The grand Marshal of this weekend's St. Patricks Day parade downtown says cabin fever is rampant and the warmth could bring out more people

"It's a big deal for Buffalo, it's the beginning of spring in a sense, and I think after this winter people are going to want to come out and get out,"says Chris Laffler, the grand marshal of Sunday's St. Patrick's Day  parade downtown.

Friday: Windy and Milder, with clouds and sun, a flurry in spots early, and showers possible at night. H 46 !!!

Saturday: Mostly Cloudy,& Breezy, and colder with a rain or snow shower in spots. High 46 /Low 32

Sunday: Colder with intervals of clouds and sunshine, High 23

Will the warmth mean flooding?
Probably Not.

The National Weather Service's hazardous weather outlook n (see right)  for today says some roads might have some trouble, but overall, there are no real worries- and no formal watches or advisories have been posted.

Here's the official bulletin:

For Niagara, Orleans, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming Counties

Today and Tonight: There are ice jams in place on some creeks across Western New York. Warmer temperatures today are not expected to be warm enough to cause additional ice to break up, however snow melt will cause flows to rise. This could cause water to back up behind existing ice jams, and potentially result in localized flooding. The probability for widespread hazardous weather is low.

Saturday through Thursday : The probability for widespread hazardous weather is low.
