Former FBI Profiler Clint Van Zandt tries to find answers to the questions everyone is asking:
Why did this happen?

Peter Lanza, the father of 20-year-old Adam Lanza  issued this statement Saturday:

"Our hearts go out to the families and friends who lost loved ones and to all those who were injured. Our family is grieving along with all those who have been affected by this enormous tragedy. No words can truly express how heartbroken we are. We are in a state of disbelief and trying to find whatever answers we can. We too are asking why. We have cooperated fully with law enforcement and will continue to do so. Like so many of you, we are saddened, but struggling to make sense of what has transpired."

Various Comments from Pres. Obama, Cong. Brian Higgins and Cong. Elect Chris Collins on Gun Control

and a Hardline discussion with Steven Alstadt, Shooters' Committee on Public Education

The question surfaces each time a mass murder unfolds: Will this one change the political calculus in Washington against tougher gun control?

The answer, after the Virginia Tech killings, the attempted assassination of Gabby Giffords, the Colorado movie-theater attack, the Wisconsin Sikh temple shootings, and more: No.

But now?

So it seems in the stunned aftermath, judging from President Barack Obama's body language as much as his statement. "We have been through this too many times," said the famously composed president, this time moved to tears. "We're going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics."

It remains to be seen whether Sandy Hook will break the usual cycle of universal shock fading into political reality. That reality is based on a combination of powerful gun lobbying and public opinion, which has shifted against tougher gun control and stayed that way. However lawmakers react this time, it's the president's call whether the issue fades again or takes its place alongside the legacy-shaping initiatives of his time, with all the peril that could mean for his party.

Buffalo Teachers Federation President Phil Rumore with WBEN's Dave Debo

The Shootings in Connecticut came at the end of a week where two Buffalo teachers were beaten in their own schools.

Whether it is violence within the school, or violence coming into the schools from outside, what can be done?   Do we need more disicipline, different policies or even metal detectors? Does values education or religion play a role in the debate over what is wrong with our society ?
