Golisano Interested in Buying Bills

Rochester, NY (WBEN) The former owner of the Buffalo Sabres confirmed his interest in buying the Buffalo Bills as he accepted an award from a Rochester high school.

Answering student questions, Golisano told those in attendance at Bishop Kearney High School his interest, calling the team a very important asset for the region.

"The important thing is someone buys (the team) and keeps it in western New York," he told USA TODAY. "Do I feel it has to be me? No, I'm not possessed about owning the Buffalo Bills, just as I wasn't possessed about owning the Buffalo Sabres. They were in danger of leaving, too. In fact they were a lot closer to leaving than the Bills are. I got involved then because I wanted to keep that entity in western New York, and I want to keep the Buffalo Bills in western New York."

There were rumblings last week Golisano would team up with developer Scott Congel in a bid to buy the Bills and build a stadium at the Seneca Mall site. But today, Golisano said it's too soon to talk about a new stadium and denied the report of a partnership with Congel.

How are you feeling about the Sabres picking 2nd overall in the draft and likely getting Jack Eichel?
  I'm psyched!
We lost but the consolation prize is pretty good!
  I'm hoping for a "deal"!
