Heavier than Normal Traffic Downtown for Tonight's Concert

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Expect Route 5 and the Skyway, two major Buffalo traffic arteries, to be clogged by rock fans waiitng to see Guns N' Roses perform live at Canalside.

Lackawanna Police Capt. Robert Janowski says extra police patrols will be out, but it's not anything his force can't handle.

"There's been events on the Outer Harbor in past years and we've handled the flow of traffic pretty well," says Janowski, who estimates the traffic shouldn't be any worse than for fans going to a hockey game.

If you're heading downtown, Janowski cautions give yourself extra time, as much as 30 minutes. "Inbound, traffic should be quite significant. Outbound, the concert's scheduled for 8, I'm not sure how many will stay downtown before the concert," notes Janowski.

If you're looking to get away from the extra traffic downtown, Janowski suggests getting off the Skyway at Ridge Road, then get off at South Park.
