Here?s the Scoop on a New Partnership in West Seneca
Talk about a sweet convergence!
Did you hear that Charlap’s Ice Cream has opened a location inside Antoinette’s on the Hill on Union Road in West Seneca? The two venerable businesses have teamed up at Antoinette’s, which has been a fixture on the hill since 1979. (Charlap’s locations in Boston, NY and Hamburg remain open, as does the Antoinette’s on Transit Road in Depew.)
The decision to collaborate was simple. “We are doing more of what we do best,” declared Mary Beth Charlap. The co-branding of two well-known names and family businesses made perfect sense for Antoinette’s owner George Hasiotis: “We’ve always been passionate about what we do; this makes us better and stronger,” George said.
A grand opening celebration is on tap for June 3 through the 5th. The owners have a menu of entertainment and activities planned for the official opening. All of the signature homemade ice cream, frozen yogurt, shakes, ice cream cakes, and those fabulous specialty sundaes can be found at the sparkling clean parlor on the left side of the store. Make sure you veer right, too, and check out the amazing array of addicting sponge candy, fudge, truffles, and unique candies like Antoinette’s famous Greek mints, including shelves of chocolate shoes that even Carrie Bradshaw would covet!
The plush stuffed animals are still for sale, so whether you’re buying a sweet treat for yourself or as a gift, you can add a furry friend for a little extra. One of George’s longtime employees will even gift wrap it for you.
Since I visited the Antoinette’s and Charlap’s a couple weeks ago, I’ve been dreaming of a hot fudge brownie sundae and some of those Greek mints. I will be back soon for the high-quality treats and that inescapable feeling of nostalgia that a place like Antoinette’s and Charlap’s evoke. Congrats to both longtime businesses!
