John Zach

Contact John Zach

Widely acknowledged as the dean of WNY radio journalists, John Zach is near the half-century mark in a distinguished broadcasting career inspired by curious affection for the industry inspired by a father whose similar curiosity dates back to the halcyon days of wireless. John’s dad constructed one of the first radio receivers on Buffalo’s east side in the 1920s.

Civic-minded, John has served on a number of boards, including the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library.  He’s twice been named “Citizen of the Year”.  He’s also a successful author. His 1988 book, The Trainman, has attained a cult following over the years; tattered, worn copies currently selling for close to $100.
John Zach is among less than a handful of “working” members in the Buffalo Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
