NWS Meterologist Shawn Smith
Lake Moderate lake effect snow will continue south of the Buffalo Metro area into early this afternoon.

Bands of moderate lake effect snow will continue across portions of southern Erie, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties through early this afternoon. Snowfall rates of up to an inch per hour will be possible.

This will reduce visibilities down to a half mile or less at times, aking driving difficult in these areas.

Motorists should allow extra time to reach their destination and adjust their speeds according to weather and road conditions.

The lake effect snow is expected to diminish in intensity by early this afternoon across the entire area.

We're not out of the frigid temperatures yet, but for now the heavy snows of the past two days have ended.

A clipper system will cross the area Friday into Friday night bringing a quick blast of snow with some Lake Effect following south and southeast of the lakes. The National Weather Service says a winter weather advisory may be needed in areas where lake enhancement will bring higher snow amount
