Carcillo, Emery Lead Flyers Past Sabres BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- Daniel Carcillo scored twice and Ray Emery made 28 saves to lead the Philadelphia Flyers to their fifth straight victory over the Buffalo Sabres, 5-2 on Friday night.
Chris Pronger had a goal and assist, and James van Riemsdyk and Darroll Powe also scored. The Flyers (8-4-1) have won three straight by a combined score of 17-5.

Driver Going 90 MPH in Crash That Killed 4 Orchard Park, N.Y. (WBEN) - Investigators with the Erie County Sheriff's Office say no formal charges will be filed, but Viktor Shapiro was traveling 90 miles per hour, and never tried to stop at the stop sign at the corner of Strickler and Country Road in Clarence last Sunday.
Shapiro and the three occupants in his vehicle were killed, two occupants of the van his struck spent the last week in the hospital.

Hit and Run Driver Sentenced to At Least A Year in Jail Judge Timothy Franczyk sentenced Andrea Glinski to anywhere from 1-3 years in jail Friday, for a hit and run accident last March that left two UB students with serious injuries then and lingering disability now. Franczyk rejected a maximum four year sentence, despite the pleas from several victim family members.

Extreme Home Makeover Comes To Town The signature bus is parked in downtown Buffalo ready to roll as ABC's Extreme Home Makeover comes to town. The list of families has been narrowed down to five, the name of the one lucky family will be called by Ty Pennington, host of the popular show tomorrow morning.
If Mayor Brown knows who the family is, he isn't giving it up. "I don't know the finalists, they keep the finalists pretty close to the vest, they don't want to let it out until they actually make the decision." But Brown is excited. He says he and his family will be among the thousands of volunteers rolling up their sleeves to help make one family's dream come true.

Discussing Downsizing in Hamburg In less than two weeks, voters in Hamburg will decide on whether to downsize the town board from five members to three. A discussion on the topic was held Thursday night, where voters heard both sides of the issue.

State Police Looking for Answers at Buffalo City Hall New York State Police were at Buffalo City Hall yesterday, looking for documents regarding discretionary spending in the Ellicott District. It's clear whether those same officers were looking for Ellicott District Common Council Member Brian Davis, but that was the inference Lovejoy Lawmaker Richard Fontana understood when speaking to the police yesterday. Clarence Crash Could Possibly Yield Court Actions The families of Amanda Slisz, Megan Schnorr and Mark Brown could take legal action against driver Viktor Shapiro, who was behind the wheel when all four of them died in a crash this past week.
Police say the four teens were killed when Shapiro sped through a stop sign and hit a van at the corner of Strickler and County Roads Saturday.

Miller, Sabres Beat Islanders 3-0 BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- Ryan Miller made 24 saves for his second shutout of the season and 14th overall, and Thomas Vanek had a goal and assist in the Buffalo Sabres' 3-0 victory over the New York Islanders on Wednesday night.
Derek Roy and Paul Gaustad also scored to help the Sabres (9-2-1) rebound from a 5-0 loss to the Islanders on Saturday on Long Island.
