Buffalo, NY (WBEN) One day after learing that his friend, Pat LaFontaine, had stepped down as the Prsident of Hockey Operations for the Buffalo Sabres, Head Coach, Ted Nolan addressed the media Sunday and noted that, "..something happened," to cause LaFontaine to step down but did not know or venture to guess what that something was. Nolan said that his main focus was preparing his team to play on the road Monday night, "We're all numb right now. Right now we're just gonna try and get this team focused on the Dallas Stars, that's our next opponent."
In terms of his contract as itrim-coach and whether he was offered an extension, Nolan admitted there has been talk about a deal with team officials but Sunday was not the time to think about such things, "Right now it's not about my contract, it's about the situation that's just happened. It's about what transpired in this organization, what happened to a very dear friend and we'll leave it at that."
Nolan arrived with LaFontaine back in November in the hopes of turning the ailing franchise aroiund. The speculation continues on why LaFontaine decided to leave the post.
