Officer Involved Shooting



(Buffalo, NY) WBEN:  According to a news release from the Buffalo Police Department Buffalo police are investigating an overnight officer involved shooting.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:30am in the 300 block of French Street. The incident began with an apparent traffic stop  and at some point an officer or officers discharged their weapon.  One individual was struck. He was taken to ECMC and was initially listed in guarded condition.                            

Buffalo police continue to investigate the matter.     As is standard procedure when an officer discharges his weapon, both the Internal Affairs Division and homicide detectives investigate the incident.

UPDATE: Buffalo Police now identify the suspect as Wilson Morales, 27, and say he had been driving at high speed with no headlights when they attempted to pull him over.

Police also say that, once stopped, Morales put his vehicle into reverse and tried to hit one of the responding officers, at which point both officers fired on him.
