Paladino Hints At Buffalo School Board Run; Campaign To Oust Incumbents

(WBEN) Buffalo developer and former gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino is thinking about another run for office: this time - the Buffalo school board.

Paladino has told several media outlets that he is considering a run for a seat on the board that he has often criticized in public forums and paid advertisements.

"You had an opportunity to do something better for the kids, and you failed at it. So I'm back. And I'm coming after you. " Paladino told school board members at last night's meeting in Buffalo City Hall.

In the years since his failed gubernatorial run against now Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Paladino has put forth and supported several candidates to challenge various incumbents. Speaking before the school board Thursday, he suggested that his own candidacy would be part of such an effort directed at them .

"And I want you to resign. As a board, all of you. . Because we're coming after you and we're going to see you all gone. And next year at this time we are going to have a much better board sitting in this room," he said.

After the meeting Paladino told WIVB News 4 Buffalo - and other outlets - that he would consider running for office himself, "to deal once and for all with this total dysfunction in this Buffalo School system. No one wants to say anything about these pathetic souls that sit there and call themselves a school board."

Paladino, a millionaire  developer, rode a wave of voter anger on his way to a surprise 2010 GOP primary win to take the party's nomination for Governor.  He carried Erie and Niagara counties by large margins in the general election, but lost to Cuomo by 2-1 margins  in a heavily Democratic state.
