Red Cross Assisting Loved Ones Following Fatal Fire
Olean, NY (WBEN) The Red Cross is assisting the family of two who died in a house fire in Olean over the weekend.
The fire claimed the lives of Kristie Bell and her 16-year-old daughter, Monica Greene.
"Our volunteer spoke with one of the people who lived in the house, lost his mother unfortunately, so we've offered disaster mental health services which we do on a regular basis," says Jay Bonafede with the American Red Cross. "We have trained disaster mental health workers who can provide the emotional support as necessary, as well as our standard assistance, including a hotel stay and food and clothing vouchers."
Bonafede says the family will still be in a state of shock, and that's where the mental health crew comes into play.
