Remembering One Week Later
ALBANY, N.Y. (WBEN/AP) - As Governor Andrew Cuomo invites New Yorkers to observe a moment of silence at 9:30 a.m. Friday for the victims of last Friday's school shooting in Connecticut, New York education officials have asked schools to do the same.
Education Commissioner Edward King says a day of remembrance will include the moment of silence in schools.
The governor is also asking houses of worship and other places to ring their bells 26 times for the 20 children and six adults killed last week.
A gunman killed his mother at home and then 20 young children and six women on the staff at the Connecticut community's Sandy Hook Elementary School last Friday morning.
