The trade publication Variety is reporting that Keanu Reeves will star in and produce "Henry's Crime," a romantic comedy that will begin production in November in Buffalo.
The project is poised to become the first picture in production for Company Films, the actor's production company.
In the Capraesque romantic comedy scripted by Sacha Gervasi, Reeves will play a bighearted man who is falsely accused of robbing a bank in Buffalo.
Reeves moved around as a kid, but grew up primarily in Toronto.
Reeves most recently starred in "The Day the Earth Stood Still." This will be Reeves' first comedy since 2003's "Something's Gotta Give," in which he played more of a supporting role to Jack Nicholson.
Romantic comedy is one genre in which Reeves has yet to have a major hit. He has done well with 2006's "The Lake House," 2001's "Sweet November," 2000's "The Replacements" and 1995's "A Walk In The Clouds," but none was a straight-up romantic comedy.
