Buffalo (WBEN) -- Baseball Hall of Famer Tom Seaver talking baseball in advance of tonight's Triple-A  All-Star Game at Coca-Cola Field, the home of the Buffalo Bisons.

Seaver spoke with reporters before addressing a luncheon at the Adam's Mark Hotel in downtown Buffalo. 

The former pitching great for the New York Mets was asked if there were any hitters he feared during his time in the big leagues. 

"We as pitchers don't use the word fear," he says, chuckling as he did so. "That is not ... that is not in our vocabulary. We have respect .. and we have ... we have the process about a making intellingent decision about what you're [the hitter] going to do through the process of the game."

Seaver is currently living in California and says really doesn't watch much baseball these days, but is a "voracious" reader of baseball box scores.

"I look at number of innings pitched. I look at what the 2-3-4 hitters do. What does the number 8 hitter do. You know, as I would attack a team, how I would go after a lineup."

Seaver pitched from 1967 to 1986 for four teams, especially noted for his time with the Mets. In his career, Seaver compiled 311 wins, 3,640 strikeouts, 61 shutouts, and a 2.86 earned run average.
