Buffalo, NY (WBEN) The Seneca Nation appears to be looking at a casino in Rochester.
In a statement, the Senecas announced they've retained a Rochester company to organize and coordinate a casino hotel in Henrietta.
“The Seneca Nation is interested in looking for opportunities to grow and complement our gaming operations, consistent with our contractual restrictions under the SGC’s current financing,” said Seneca Nation President Barry E. Snyder, Sr. “David Flaum and his team have a proven track record and we see this as a good fit.”
“We are inspired by the commitment and vision the Seneca Nation and its leadership has demonstrated to create business partnerships both on territory and with stakeholders throughout the western New York community to grow our region’s economy and create jobs,” said David Flaum, CEO, Flaum Management Company.
Henrietta is in the Senecas' exclusivity zone as part of the casino deal with the state, but the tribe's 2002 compact with the state only allows casinos in Niagara Falls, Salamanca, and Buffalo.
