Sergio Rodriguez Plans To Run for Seat On Buffalo School Board
Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - Former Buffalo Mayoral Candidate Sergio Rodriguez announced today that he will be running for an at large position on the Buffalo School Board in May.
"When I ran for Mayor, I prioritized the education system as being the single most important issue," Rodriguez said. "And so when we looked at the landscape, we looked at what our passion is, and where our skills are. We felt like the school board race was where we can make the biggest impact."
Rodriguez says he will focus on attendance, parental involvement, and preparing Buffalo students for the growing number of jobs in the medical and green energy fields that are growing in Buffalo.
"When we look at the development that's going on in the city of Buffalo such as the medical corridor, these are jobs that unfortunately the vast majority of Buffalo Public School students will not even be able to participate in."
Rodriguez ran for Mayor on the Republican line in the 2013 election, and lost out to Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown.
