According to TSN, Sabre back-up goalie Mikael Tellqvist has signed with Ak Bars Kazan of the Russian Continental Hockey League. The Canadian network cites a Swedish report on the story.
Tellqvist was picked up by Buffalo from Phoenix at the trading deadline this past season as insurance with Ryan Miller injured. The Coyotes received a 2010 4th round draft pick in exchange. Tellqvist's new one-year contract with AK Bars Kazan is believed to be worth $1.3 million.
The 29-year old played 6 games with the Sabres. Tellqvist went 2-and-1 with a 2.35 GAA and a .928 save percentage. His numbers were much better than those of Patrick Lalime. Lalime went 5-13-and-3 in 24 games between the pipes with a 3.10 GAA.
