A jacknifed tractor trailer created extensive delays getting off Grand Island Friday morning, as the region began to cope with some heavy snowfall that could continue all day.
The crash occurred near 7:30 Friday on the northbound North Grand Island Bridge.
There was one injury, according to Thruway Authority Buffalo Division Director Tom Pericek
Traffic delays persisted until close to 9 am. At it's worst, traffic backups extended approximately two miles and the bridge was essentially closed. Some traffic was allowed off at the Buffalo Avenue ramp to continue back onto the roadway at the ramp across Buffalo Ave.
Thruway officials were also urging Northbound traffic to get off at the I-290 and take Niagara Falls Blvd. Northbound.
