Trump to Visit Syracuse Tonight
Syracuse, NY (WBEN) When Donald Trump visits Syracuse tonight, one local radio reporter says he'll see a sold out crowd, but not necessarily support for a potential run for governor.
"I think a lot of folks are just interested in seeing Donald Trump, the billionaire, the TV personality, and hearing what he has to say," says Kevin Schenk of WSYR. "I don't know if there are folks committed to a candidate, but the celebrity factor is a draw in selling tickets." The speech will be held in a sold out hotel room this evening.
What he'll say at that speech is unknown. "The local Republican officials are being a bit coy about what Donald Trump has to say in Syracuse," notes Schenk. "We're waiting to hear some of the specifics he's willing to give New Yorkers in a possible run for governor."
While Trump has said he wanted a united front to run for governor, Schenk says he learned from local leaders a potential bombshell. "Our local Republican chairman says there will be a third Republican candidate in that race at the May convention, but who has not been revealed," says Schenk.
