Two Convicted in Kidnapping, Torture of Purported Drug Informant
Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Two men have been convicted of kidnapping and torturing a man they accused of being an informant. 23 year old Wesley Woods and 29 year old Stephen Dawson were found guilty in a jury trial in State Supreme Court.
Erie County DA Frank Sedita says the two men punched kicked and robbed the victim, then took him back to the basement of Woods’ home. Over the course of the next seventeen hours, prosecutors say the defendants beat the victim, pistol-whipped him, poured gasoline on him, repeatedly stuck the barrel of a loaded gun in his mouth, and drilled into his teeth with a power drill. Throughout this torture, the defendants repeatedly accused the victim of being a police informant.
Another assailant testified for the prosecution at the trial.
Prosecutors add Dawson recorded portions of it on his cell phone and posted it on Facebook.
The defendants each face 15 years to life at sentencing on October 8th. Sedita credits the work of Assistant District Attorney John Feroleto, who is assigned to DA Sedita’s Tactical Prosecution Unit, and Assistant District Attorney Kristi Ahlstrom, who is assigned to DA Sedita’s Felony Trial Bureau.
