Fred Dicker points to a prediction from former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, saying Pres. Obama could tap Andrew Cuomo as VP, if Joe Biden slides over into State to replace Hillary Clinton.
In his NY Post Column today, Dicker fans the flames with this quote from former NYS Republican Party Chair Bill Powers: "I don't think there's any doubt Obama is going to pick him as his running mate. The president is in trouble and [Vice President Joseph Biden doesn't bring anything to his ticket."
But neither a staunch Republican like Canisius Political Science Prof. Kevin Hardwick, the county legislator-- nor the slightly more liberal Prof. Bruce Bryski at Buffalo State College -- see it happening. Sez Bryski: "it doesn't make any sense for Obama, It doesn't make any sense for Cuomo."
And they aren't alone. The London Daily Telegraph's DC Correspondent Toby Harnden in his column " Ten Reasons Why Andrew Cuomo Will Not Be Barack Obama's 2012 running mate," writes "
Such a move would be a stunning admission of failure by Obama – not the way he would want to start of the 2012 campaign."
