Voters Reject Upsizing in West Seneca and Alden

West Seneca, NY (WBEN) Voters in West Seneca and Alden have rejected a call to increase the size of town governments.

In a referendum held Tuesday, nearly 7 in 10 West Seneca voters rejected a bid to increase the number of town board members from three to five. That same count was found in Alden.

Kevin Gaughan led the charge against upsizing. "Tonight, Alden and West Seneca voters expressed their firm commitment to a path of reduced government and a revived Western New York economy. This is a victory, for Alden, West Seneca, and for every Western New York taxpayer," says Gaughan.

Gaughan says he was not the only one disappointed when the towns called for the votes. "I spoke with a number of voters and heard over and over they said they regretted having to go back to the booth after giving them their instruction to downsize," says Gaughan.
