Warm Weekend Brings Cycles and Several Accidents to Area Roads



The warm weekends brought out motorcycles, many of the bikers on their first ride this spring.

 -- On Grand Island Sunday evening, Erie County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 35-year-old Anthony Viscuso of Kenmore on DWI charges. Witnesses to an accident involving Viscuso's car and a motorcycle on Grand Island Boulevard stated that Viscuso veered into the driving lane of a motorcycle causing the motorcycle to careen out of control and overturn. The motorcycle's operator, Eugene Kelsey lll of Grand Island suffered a broken leg. He's at the ECMC.

 --On Saturday in Niagara County, sheriff's deputies report a group of bikers, about ten, were traveling on Hartland Road in the town of Royalton when one of the cycles fell behind, then tried to catch up. When it did, it ran into the rear of another motorcycle causing a crash that injured four people. Two of the cyclists including a passenger were taken to the ECMC for treatment of head injuries.

 --Early Sunday in the Erie County Town of Newstead, a driver lost his life when his car ran off Main Street near Barnum Road and struck a tree. The victim was identified as 49-year-old Mark Sperazza of Tonwanda.
