Buffalo, NY (WBEN Newsroom) -- The New York Power Authority has announced a number of low cost power allocations which are slated to bring hundreds of new jobs to the region. The largest project involves a $200 million solar panel manufacturing plant in Western New York that would create 175 permanent jobs. California-based Sunworks Solar Power LLC hasn’t closed on a site yet, but construction could begin in 2010 with a completion date the following year. NYPA also crafted deals for Globe Specialty Metals, Precision Electro Minerals and the Great Lakes Offshore Wind project. Those deals are expected to create over 500 more jobs locally.
