WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY A winter weather advisory is now in effect for southern Erie, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties. In addition to 3 to 5 inches of snowfall expected, there is a threat of freezing rain and sleet.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BUFFALO HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM FRIDAY
TO 4 AM EST SATURDAY.

.. LOCATIONS...THE WESTERN SOUTHERN TIER.

.. TIMING...EARLY FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE FRIDAY NIGHT.

.. HAZARDS...SNOW.

.. ACCUMULATIONS...1 TO 2 INCHES FRIDAY AND 2 TO 3 INCHES FRIDAY
  NIGHT...LEADING TO STORM TOTALS OF 3 TO 5 INCHES.

.. IMPACTS...THE SNOWFALL WILL RESULT IN REDUCED VISIBILITIES...AND
  UNTREATED ROADWAYS BECOMING VERY SLIPPERY.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NORMALLY ISSUED FOR A VARIETY OF
WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS SUCH AS LIGHT SNOW, BLOWING SNOW,
SLEET, FREEZING RAIN AND WIND CHILLS. WHILE THE WEATHER WILL BE
SIGNIFICANT, THE WORD ADVISORY IMPLIES THAT SEVERE WINTER WEATHER
IS NOT ANTICIPATED.

* TIMING...TWO WAVES OF WINTRY PRECIPITATION. THE FIRST THIS
  MORNING WITH SNOW...SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN THEN ANOTHER WAVE
  THIS AFTERNOON INTO TONIGHT WITH ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATION.

* HAZARDS...SNOW AND FREEZING RAIN.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATING AN INCH OR TWO THROUGH 6
  AM...AN INCH OR LESS TODAY...AND 1 TO 3 INCHES TONIGHT. ICE
  ACCUMULATING UP TO ONE TENTH OF AN INCH THROUGH 6 AM AND LESS  THAN ONE TENTH OF AN INCH TODAY.

* IMPACTS...THE SNOWFALL COMBINED WITH POCKETS OF FREEZING RAIN   AND SLEET THIS MORNING WILL RESULT IN UNTREATED ROADWAYS AND   BRIDGES BECOMING VERY SLIPPERY. THESE CONDITIONS ARE LIKELY   AGAIN THIS AFTERNOON INTO TONIGHT ALONG WITH REDUCED
  VISIBILITIES AS A SECOND WAVE OF SNOW ARRIVES.
