Lake Effect Snow Warning for southern tier

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - he lake effect snow band delivered a gut punch the the deep southtowns Thursday afternoon, dumping double digit inches of snow across many towns and leave the New York State Thruway at a standstill in spots for a time.  The lake effect band may reorganize overnight and drift northward across the southtowns and Buffalo Metro Friday morning, causing problems for the Friday morning commute.

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow occurring. Plan on difficult
travel conditions. Additional snow accumulations of 4 to 7
inches are expected in the most persistent lake snows.

* WHERE...Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie
counties.

* WHEN...Until 7 AM Friday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Be prepared for significant reductions in
visibility at times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Heavy snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be
prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities.
