ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WBEN) - Panasonic held an informational seminar on Wednesday morning at Erie Community College's South Campus to discuss job opportunities available at the Solar City facility.

"Panasonic is actively hiring," Panasonic Buffalo Recruiter Jeff Ricci told WBEN. "We wanted to be a presence in the community, answering questions, explaining who we are, where we are in the process, how to apply, what kind of people we're looking for, and answer questions in the community."

Local jobs listed on Panasonic's website range from entry level positions such as operator/assembly line worker and machine operator, to higher-level positions like cell production technician and process engineer.

"We're a 24/7 facility," Ricci said. "So production will be 24/7."

Ricci couldn't discuss specifics on wages but did say they hire on the minimum wage and they have a comprehensive benefits program.

"While we are a startup business we are a huge corporation that has a great corporate benefit platform," he said. "401k, for example, you're 100 percent invested in the plan. There's a lot of great benefits in addition to a pretty competitive salary wage. We've been doing a lot of market data, comparing what other companies are paying for similar positions, and pricing our jobs as fairly and as competitively as possible."

He said Panasonic has hired hundreds of people already and still have plenty more to go.

"We'll never completely be filled," he said. "We'll always have growth and attrition but by the winter...we're hoping to have the majority of the core of the business staffed."

You can find a list of available jobs with Panasonic on their website and navigating to the Buffalo jobs.
