Kane, Lehner Among Group Of Seven

Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - The NHL has released every team's expansion lists for the Vegas Golden Knights. The Sabres list was pretty easy with only one surprise. Teams could protect seven forwards, three defensemen and a goaltender or any eight skaters and a goalie.

Jason Botterill went with 7-3-1.

Forwards:
Kyle Okopso
Ryan O'Reilly
Evander Kane
Tyler Ennis
Marcus Foligno
Johan Larsson
Zemgus Girgensons

Defense:
Rasmus Ristolainen
Jake McCabe
Nate Beaulieu

Goalie:
Robin Lehner

That means Buffalo can lose Will Carrier, Zach Bogosian, Josh Gorges, Justin Falk, Linus Ullmark or Nick Deslauriers. Here is the complete list of who can be taken:

Forwards:
Will Carrier
Nick Deslauriers
Brian Gionta
Derek Grant
Justin Kea
Matt Moulson
Cal O'Reilly
Cole Schneider

Defense:
Brady Austin
Mat Bodie
Zach Bogosian
Justin Falk
Taylor Fedun
Cody Franson
Josh Gorges
Dmitry Kulikov

Goalies:
Anders Nilsson
Linus Ullmark

Vegas could also decided to sign one of Buffalo's unrestricted free agents which would count as the player they'd lose. That includes Brian Gionta, Cody Franson, Taylor Fedun or Dmitry Kulikov.

The only surprise to me is Ennis. Why would Vegas take a chance on a guy who hasn't been the same since suffering two major concussions? It looks like Botterill either has a deal in place or he doesn't think the Sabres can use Carrier's speed. My guess is there could be a deal that says Vegas will not take Ullmark, if they can have Carrier.
