Paris, France (WBEN) A Western New Yorker is vacationing in Paris, and was not too far from the shooting scene along the Champs-Elysees.

Sarah Turner was shopping with her 9 year old son along the Champs-Elysees about an hour before the attack happened. "We were shopping in a very busy area, near the end at the arc trying to find a few things," says Turner. Then, things got hectic. "About 8:45pm, things got a little crazy and all we knew was we saw helicopters and heard sirens and we were being pushed back into our hotel and no one was saying anything."

Turner says she had to turn on her TV to find out exactly what was going on. "We're still in the dark about it, the hotel's not telling us much about it,"says Turner, who adds people weren't being allowed to cross the street. "We were shocked to be that close to what happened. We were a block away from what happened."

Turner has family in Boston and in Western New York and lets everyone know she, her husband, and son are safe.
