Ladies and Gentlemen, Start Your Grills!

The grilling gauntlet was recently thrown down to the WGR Sports Radio 550 audience.

Their mission was clear: Enter the WGR’s Grilling Challenge and prove that you are the master of the grill.

Presented by Labatt, Andre Reed’s Over the Middle Sauce, and Tops, listeners were invited to send their best grilling recipes to wgr550.com. The only requirement? The recipe had to include Over the Middle Sauce and Labatt beer.

On the Friday before Labor Day, Howard Simon and Jeremy White took their sports talk show to the Tops parking lot on Maple and Bailey in Amherst. The morning duo had the enviable  task of judging the “Ultimate Grilling Challenge.”
As the six contestants (out of nearly 3 dozen entrants) participated in an outdoor cook-off, under a beautiful late summer sky and with the aroma of barbecue meats, poultry and veggies wafting through the air, the guys got down to business.

After careful consideration and on full stomachs, Howard and Jeremy declared Jeff Castiglione the grand prize winner. Here is the recipe he submitted:

"Chicken over the Middle"
The Beer pre- marinade consists of 1/2 Labatt's beer, 2 cups yellow mustard, 1/2 tbsp hot sauce 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 tsp sea salt, 1/2 tsp pepper It is cooked over a charcoal grill to further enhance the flavor and finished off with one of the best B-B-Q sauces on the market, "Andre's Reeds Over the Middle All Purpose Sauce."

Jeff’s hard work paid off as he snared the grand prize: a deluxe grill, grill accessories kit, one year’s worth of Labatt  and Labatt merchandise, a $300 Gift Certificate to TOPS and an autographed Andre Reed bottle of Over the Middle Sauce.

Congrats, Jeff!
