Hall Apple Orchard
I don't live in NY anymore! John Hall from Hall's Apple Orchard sent me photos of the snow on the apple crop. They had to work extra hard to save what they could from their orchard.

Michael, on facebook writes
I remember everything you mentioned but particularly the cracking sound of the tree branches, the overall devastation of the trees and the flashes on the electrical transformers.

Ea fine, Depew a mess
Live in East Aurora, and remember hosting my mom from Depew for several days. They had no electricity, we however were one of the pockets that did. I remember driving back into her neighborhood and seeing neighbors with generators in their driveways, and electical cords sharing power. Later, a group of those same neighbors worked together to get prices on those big in-home standby generators, bought together at a discount I believe.

what storm
I hate to say it but we lived in Boston (NY) at the time and I was cutting my grass in a t-shirt and shorts - not a cloud in the sky - I could clearly remember seeing the distinct point to the north where the clear skies met the clouds - had to bring my father (from Cheektowaga) and mother-in-law (from Kenmore) to our house for about a week.

We were camping in Allegany days before and the weather was fine. Then all hell broke lose. Although we never lost power in our Kenmore home, My children and their families did as did My Mon who lives in Tonawanda. We had set up air matresses and played board games. We own a restaurnat on the buffalo/kenmore boarder and never lost power there either. It was our busiest week ever!

Watched From A Distance
I enjoyed watching it from Springville. Usually, we're the ones who get clobbered when lake-effect snow hits the area. For a change, this one went North. I can't say I was disappointed.
