This is silly and overkill for hands free operation. Texting definitely as you cannot do that hands free. Next they will want to ban conversation with your passengers.

I totally think they should ban it! I come from the era when cell phones were just becoming a huge deal, and it was around the same time I got my liscense. If something isn't laid down soon, before you know, people are going to be playing on their laptops while driving, or reading their nooks(whatever the electronic books are called).

Tracee: People already read papers in the car, the laptops have been already played with (truck driver watching pr0n on his laptop on the 90 a few years ago!) as well as eating, doing their makeup or their hair, drinking coffee, yelling at their kids. You haven't read 1984 I take it.

Over extending reach?
What people like Tracee fail to notice is that more and more people honestly believe government is needed to protect us,... from ourselves. Technically this proposed "Law" if you can call it that, should apply to tuning your radio, eating, and drinking a beverage as well. Sound ridiculous? Many "off the wall" bill proposals are implemented with a direct monetary gain for some agency or affiliate. Fines are the most noticeable and easily identified result. It's a common sense issue that results in a safety issue. So Tracee enjoy you coffee on your ride into work this morning, because it may also be banned in the not so distant future. After all it's just as big a distraction as ANY electrical device. Use Your Head.

Banned Cell in Vehicles
What i believe they should do is to have a devise to cut the cell phone off if you are try to TEX MESSAGE while in a vehicle. If you have a blue tooth or a hands free devise that should be allowed also if you get caught TEX MESSAGING or hold your Cell while you are driving then there should be a fine of $1000.00 and 15 days in jail but the would have to be enforced without any plea in court. I believe that would stop must of the TEX MESSAGING while someone is driving.

Accidents happened before cell phone and they will happen even if you have a total ban on cell phones. The government can not stop accidents and they know it. They are creating a crisis so that they can create more laws to generate more revenue and put more people behind bars. Its all about control.

Total Ban on Distractions
Does Trooper Negrelli favor single occupancy vehicles also. You can be totally distracted by children in a car in the front or rear seat. Maybe we can have cars built with seating cubicles and blackout shades between. Stupid is as stupid does. This blanket law is stupid and just another intrusion by government to look like they CARE!!
