Powderkeg Ready to Go, Even Without Snow

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) It's a week away, but organizers say they're not worried about a lack of snow for the upcoming Powderkeg festival downtown. They are, however, concerned about whether Occupy Buffalo protesters will be inside Niagara Square.

"Snow or no snow, it's a go," says Drew Cerza. "We're gonna have a lot of activities that don't require snow." Among them, says Cerza, indoor activities inside Statler City. One event requiring snow is the Red Bull Buttercup Snowboard series. "They're gonna bring in 100 tons of snow from Holiday Valley, so there will be snow in Niagara Square for sure," says Cerza.

One concern Cerza does have is whether Niagara Square will be vacated. Right now, Occupy Buffalo protesters are in Niagara Square, and a permit with the movement is about to expire. "Our plans call for us to occupy Niagara Square to do this right," says Cerza. "If the same contract continues, they will have to leave the square for us or for any festival with a permit. We'll wait for our cue from the city for the next step."
