Wallenda has second meeting with Niagara Parks officials
Niagara Falls, Ont. (WBEN) -- Nik Wallenda has had a second meeting with the staff of the Niagara Parks Commission.
The daredevil is hoping for permission to perform a high-wire walk from the U.S. to Canada over Niagara Falls. The commission denied his request after the first meeting in November.
Wallenda says the Thursday meeting wasn't so much a second pitch, as it was a chance to answer any questions the commission staff may have had.
"It was nice to be able to address ... and answer some of their questions and hopefully calm some of their concerns. I feel confident we'll come to an agreement," Wallenda says.
Wallenda says he addressed concerns about the location of the cranes involved, how it would impact the park's day-to-day business, safety concerns, and the engineering involved. Wallenda says he address many of the concerns in his original proposal, but Thursday's meeting enabled him to sit face-to-face with staff members and talk about his hopes with the walk.
The meeting involved the commission's technical staff that will assemble a presentation on whether they do or do not support Wallenda's proposed walk.
"Then again the commission will vote one more time and we'll see how things come out," he says.
The commission will consider his request at a meeting set for the 15th.
