Whether you’re a vegan or someone who likes to smoke a hookah after dinner, Local Restaurant Week, running now through Sunday, April 1st, has something for just about everybody. A variety of tempting menus and cuisines is available at a discount price. Most restaurants serve three items for a fixed cost: $20.12 to coincide with the year. Some places offer an additional option; for $30.12, your menu selection offers more fine dining choices. You might say this special week is a way to bust through the ever increasing chain presence in the area. The motto of Local Restaurant Week is “Eat. Drink. Indulge. Sample. Taste Keep it Local!”With tabs that won’t break the bank and a variety of venues, an increase from 60 restaurants when the event began locally three years ago, to 200 this year, the objective is to entice diners to try new eateries or bring back former patrons. It’s up to the individual restaurants to determine their menu offerings for the special. Many include an appetizer, entrée and dessert, but others concoct their own combos. From Youngstown to Eden to the city and many points in between, I plan to graze my way through the week. I’m hankering for Lebro’s shrimp over spinach fettuccini, the potato kale stew at Merge and the authentic Fattoush Salad from Mezza (minus the Hookah experience), just to name a few.I salute the hard working men and women who labor so hard to make eating out one of the true pleasures in my life. Cheers to you all! |
