(WBEN)  Niagara Falls, NY : A weekend barbecue with friends turned tragic Saturday -- a 22-year-old man is presumed drowned in the Niagara River.

Police in Ontario report the man was barbecuing with friends in the bottom of the Niagara Gorge. He went swimming Saturday afternoon, but was carried away by the strong current.

Despite an extensive search involving helicopters, the man has not been seen, and is presumed drowned.
