Buffalo, NY (WBEN) As Americans pause to remember those killed in combat, a number of events will be held to mark Memorial Day.

The Erie County American Legion is hosting its annual Memorial Day event with grave decorations at Forest Lawn Cemetery. At Elmlawn Cemetery in Kenmore services were held at the Vietnam Memorial and Field of Honor by The Brounshidle American Legion Post 205 and the Harry Crosby Post.

Parades are a Memorial Day fixture. Kenmore and West Seneca have parades this Monday. The West Seneca parade steps off at 10:30 from Southgate Plaza. Kenmore's parade begins at 11am.

WBEN News Director Steve Cichon will be part of ceremonies to dedicate a monument in memory of 300 War of 1812 soldiers who died at what is now Delaware Park's golf course.

In Lackawanna, the Matthew Glab Post 1477 will host a Memorial Day service at 1pm at its post home on Abbott Road.
